Ed passed away May 30, 2025. He was born in Oakland, Ca November 24, 1925, to John Edgar Waterman and Charlotte Maude Waterman.

The family later re-located to Petaluma, Ca where his Grand Father, John Waterman owned a large chicken ranch. Later Ed, along with his mother and father relocated to the Mountain Area above Delta, California.    Here, he helped his dad and his brothers mine for gold.  The family were perfectly happy with their way of life.

Later, they moved to Sparks, Nv where his father worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad.    Ed joined the Navy in 1943

and was sent to Farragut, Idaho, a WWII-era Naval training Station.     Upon completion this training he was immediately shipped out to the Japanese Occupation.  He was a proud plank owner of the USS Tarawa and the USS Belle Grove.  This was a Double-Ender which meant it could go forward or backward without turning around.   Their Motto was "THE 2 CAN Do". He was also trained to become Water Tender where he learned to be in charge tending to water in boilers sees that fires are properly cleaned and stoked, etc.     In this position he is in touch with the Captain of the Ship. He loved this job.

They made 9 invasions of the Islands and saved them which was very important for the USA for military use.

Ed attended his first reunion with the BG in Seattle September 2003 Ed attended his  second reunion with the BG in Oregon August 2015.

After the War was over, Ed returned to Sparks,Nv. In his travels, he worked for Halliburton Oil Well Co. in La and Ms.

He married a Ms Girl, Carolyn Martin Waterman. Soon, he decided to take his new bride to Nevada.  This was home.  They had two children.  Barbara and John both graduated from Sparks High School.

Ed enjoyed traveling and visited many places.  He loved hunting, fishing, and boating.  He was active in Good Sam Camping Club and made many friends. His 75th wedding anniversary would have been 7-15-2025. He would have been 100 years old 11-24-1925.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Waterman, and son, John Waterman, Puyallup.   His only daughter, Barbara, is deceased (3-4-2024).

Also surviving are Lucille Weis, of Washington, and Charles Martin, of

Mississippi, Carolyn's siblings. Also, his grand daughters, Jessica and Sarah, grandson, Jonathan, 2 great grand daughters, Alex and Sophia.

Surviving are nephews, Jim Wolfe, of Oregon; Danny, Darrell, Dale Waterman, all of Washington, and their children, all of Washington.  Pam Phele, a niece and her children, of Nevada.

Ed was a very happy person and will be missed by his family and friends. THE SOUND OF THE OCEAN WAVES SOOTHED HIS SOUL
