Elena Olegovna Smith of Seattle, passed away at her home December 5th, 2024, she was 50 years old.

Elena was strong-minded, unfaltering, generous, big-hearted, kinetic and intense, and loved sharing her passion for life with those she met. She loved to celebrate the fourth of July by having a party where the whole neighborhood was invited.

Elena created a strong circle of friends while working for Starbucks; and was a talented cook that enjoyed sharing the many delicious meals that she made. Her favorite places to travel were Mexico and Hawaii, where she enjoyed finding new recipes to share.

Born March 15th,1974 in Moscow, Russia; she came to the United States in 1994. Elena did not know English when she arrived in the U.S., but carried with her a beautiful dream of starting a new life with endless possibilities.

Elena was able to bring her mother Izabella over from Moscow to live with her a few years later. Izabella married Lowell Downie in 1996.

After Izabella fell ill, Elena helped take care of her until she died in 2004.

Lowell walked Elena down the aisle on March 15th, 2018 when Elena married Chris Bangert.

When Lowell and Chris both died within a week of each other in 2022, Elena was never able to recover from her broken heart. She will be greatly missed.
