Fred's service will be here, at Solstice Independent Living in the Renton Highlands, 1414 Monroe Ave NE, Renton WA 98056 on Friday, the 3rd of May, at 2:30 p.m.  We will have light refreshments at the conclusion.  In lieu of flowers, please donate in Fred's name to your favorite charity or to the Renton Senior Center, 211 Burnett Ave N, Renton, WA 98057.

Fred was born in Seattle to parents John and Freida (Gutzmer) Kubasta, the youngest of seven children.  He lost his mom when he was only nine months old.  He is survived by his loving wife, Willa, his older sister, Helen Andrus, his children, Pam (Moon) Kubasta and Ron Kubasta, and his grandchildren, Brianne Colton, Michael Colton (Jen), Ryan Kubasta, and Madeline Kubasta.

He is also  survived (and was loved) by many nieces and nephews and Willa's children; Judy Ibanez, Wendy Catlin (Cameron), Clifford (Beth) Mathison
and grandchildren, Alex, Shelby and Mylie.

Fred was a printer for the Seattle Times for many years and ultimately worked as a printer for the Oklahoma Journal, where he barely survived the bombing of the Federal Building, April 19, 1995.  He was hospitalized and in rehab for a year and sustained many permanent injuries.  He was still removing shards of glass by 2006.

He got his first passport in 2008 when he reconnected with his teen-age sweetheart, Willa, and they were married and they traveled the world together.  Among their visits to other countries, they traveled to South America multiple times, Australia, where they snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef; Europe and stayed in Hawaii twice a year.  Sometimes, they took as many as 5 cruises a year; never less than 2 weeks, and some as long as 36 days.  They loved going through the Panama canal and did that many times.  He packed a lot of living into his 92 years.

He will be missed by so many.
