Georges "Juris" Lapins was born in Memmingen, Germany on June 17th, 1950. He and his family immigrated to the United States in the winter of 1957, and they resided in The Bronx, New York City where he grew up. Eventually, he moved to Seattle, Washington and met Doreen Tcharanian. The two were married in the Summer of 1990.

He passed away on June 7th of sepsis resulting from a perforated bowel due to advanced intestinal cancer. He is survived by his wife, their two children, Christopher and Rebecca, and his sister, Ingrid.

Georges worked for decades as an IBM mainframe programmer for banks as well as for The Boeing Company. Outside of work, he enjoyed poetry, baseball, fencing, translating Russian, reading Philosophy and collecting swords and other bladed weapons.

His memorial service is on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1 pm at East Hill Baptist Church in Kent, Washington.
