In Loving Memory of Jon Frank Postawa

Jon Frank Postawa, age 80, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. Jon was born on May 12, 1946, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Vera and Stanley Postawa and was raised in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jon graduated from Sauk Prairie High School on June 5, 1964. He answered his country's call when he was drafted into the United States Army on December 16, 1965. He completed Basic Training and attended 94B Cook School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, before being assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a military cook for the 6th Army Reception Station at North Fort. He was honorably discharged from active duty on December 15, 1967.

On November 24, 1967, Jon married Nancy Elizabeth Pray, and together they welcomed four children: Staci Carol, Jon Christopher, Christine "Tina" Marie, and Abbyanne Elizabeth.

Jon later married Xina Theresa Quinn on July 11, 1988, and together they loved: Jamie Ann and Jason Alfred.

Jon was a man of many passions and simple pleasures. He loved the color blue, football, and was a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks. Rarely seen without his signature aviator sunglasses, Jon brought his own style and personality wherever he went.

Cooking was one of Jon's greatest expressions of love. Family and friends gathered around the table for his famous golumpki (gwumpki), spaghetti, fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, mashed potatoes, grilled hamburgers, cucumber salad, and the legendary "Postawa Surprise"—which many experienced, though few could ever fully explain. Even in later years, Jon was always looking for something new to make, often finding recipes on Pinterest that he couldn't wait to share. His family and friends gladly enjoyed the results of his latest kitchen adventures.

Jon appreciated the beauty of Western Washington's weather and had an exceptional green thumb. Growing an assortment of plants all around his yard. During his years in Las Vegas, he cultivated stunning rose gardens that reflected his patience and care.

A consummate prankster with a quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Jon loved making people laugh. Jon was always on the move, making lists and planning his next project. Whether he was tending roses, grilling hamburgers, or spending time with family and friends, he could often be found wearing his favorite jeans, flannel shirt, and aviator sunglasses. His favorite response to almost any question was a confident and enthusiastic, "Absolutely".

Jon shared a special bond with dogs throughout his life, particularly Teddy, Lucy and Luca, who held a cherished place in his heart.

He enjoyed relaxing with an RR with Canada Dry ginger ale or a Budweiser, sharing stories, laughter, and good company with those he loved.

More than anything, Jon will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and the countless meals, memories, and moments he shared with family and friends. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Though deeply missed, Jon's spirit remains present in every family gathering, every shared laugh, every carefully tended garden, and every time someone answers with a heartfelt:

"Absolutely."

A celebration of life will be held at his home in Tacoma on July 26th, 2026, from 2PM to 6PM.
