Lennie was born on April 29th, 1955 in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away on March 11th, 2024, at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, Washington. She leaves behind her husband Jim of Puyallup, WA, her son James, (Emily) and their two children Abraham and Soloman of Washington, DC, her daughter Shelli Cantu (Santos) and their two children, Oscar and Ruby of Auburn, WA.
She grew up in Milton, WA, with her parents, Leonard and Janet Mitchell, and two younger sisters, Jane (Brimhall) and Renee (Swayze). Lennie attended Fife High School and graduated in 1973. She met and married her husband Jim in 1978 (46 years), moved to West Seattle and over the years worked as a typesetter for several newspapers and companies. In later years, Lennie was a first-grade teacher's assistant at the same private school, Tilden, her two children attended.
Her greatest love was her two children, James (born 1983) and Shelli (born 1986) and her four grandchildren, Abraham & Solomon, Oscar & Ruby.
Lennie enjoyed family gatherings, vacations, visits to her grandparents' cabin on Vaughn Bay and summers in Packwood, WA at High Valley Park.
Lennie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived for her kids and grandkids. Lennie had many friends. Everyone liked her and she liked everyone. She will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a Catholic funeral Mass and reception on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup, 503 3rd St. SW, Puyallup, WA 98371. Please RSVP to Shelli Tague, shellitague@gmail.com.
