Obituary

Lisa Edmondson passed away in Seattle on June 14, 2026, just shy of her 67th birthday. Born in Denver, CO to Floyd Edmondson and Carol Stephens, she graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, WY, before attending photography school in Denver.

A professional photographer, Lisa worked for the Casper Tribune and then the Lexington Herald Leader (Kentucky), where she was night photo editor. In addition to covering the Kentucky Derby, occasional assignments took her further afield to Spain and Mexico. With her expert eye for quirky photo possibilities, she made the most of shadows and angles. In late life, confined to her bedroom, she took daily photos of Mount Rainier's changing moods.

Lisa was a masterful chef. Once, she "cooked" her way through an entire year with daily recipes from a favorite Italian cookbook. A compassionate, caring person, Lisa made good friends of neighbors wherever she lived. She will be greatly missed for her cheerfulness, her positive attitude & her persistence in getting things done right.

Lisa is survived by sisters Carla Rutschman (Bellingham, WA), Linda Davis (Independence, MO), and Ava Edmondson (Harrison, MI); brother Drew Edmondson (Commerce City, CO); numerous nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend—her cat, Jo-Jo.
