Mal A Yi was born on December 10, 1921, in Namhae-Gun, a village in South Korea. She passed away on April 2, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 102. Mal A grew up in a very humble environment. She married her husband, Soon-gaen Yi and they had four children. Mal A moved to Seattle in 1982 and lived with her daughter. She helped care for her two grandkids. Mal A loved being an impressive farmer, mostly as a farmer. She harvested 1/2 acre of garlic in Brier, Washington in her daughter and son-laws back yard. Bystanders were in awe of her hard work and dedication to the garden. She worker from sunrise to sundown. We believe it gave her the long life.

Mal A leaves behind her two sons, Shin Nam Yi, Chong Kyo Yi, two daughters, Sun-cha (Sunnie) Andrade, Soon Huang, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. Her cremains will be placed at Abby View Washelli in Brier, Washington.
