Nancy Joanne
Syverson
Jan 10, 1957 — Nov 11, 2023
Nancy Joanne Syverson of Kent, Washington passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023 at Valley Medical Center in Renton with her family by her side. Nancy was born in Yakima, Washington on January 10, 1957 to Norris and Jeanne (Verran) Syverson of Wapato. She attended Wapato schools graduating with the Wapato Class of 1975. She remained close friends with many of her classmates throughout the years. She married Terry Umemoto of Wapato in June, 1975 and together they raised two sons, Dustin Umemoto and Dylan Umemoto. Nancy never met a stranger, she could talk to anyone and enjoyed doing so at every chance she got. Nancy had several jobs throughout her life but her biggest accomplishment was that of raising her sons and then becoming a Nana to two special granddaughters, Layton Umemoto and Letti Umemoto. She enjoyed spending time making memories with them, doing crafts and watching them in their various sporting events. She loved them deeply. Although Nancy encountered many medical issues in her lifetime, she faced them with courage and a positive attitude. She was the first child in Washington State to have dialysis.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Dustin and Dylan Umemoto, her granddaughters, Layton and Letti Umemoto, her sister Barbara (Mark) Lundberg, her brother Eric Syverson, a very special aunt, Joanne Virgillo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Jeanne Syverson and a nephew Tyler Lundberg.
A Celebration of Life is planned for January 10, 2024 (Nancy's birthday) in Kent, Washington. The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Medical Center for the care they provided Nancy and also a special thanks to Nancy's good friend Cindy (Brown) Harrington who was with Nancy throughout many of her medical challenges.
