Richard William Benton passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Issaquah, WA on Monday, June 3, 2024. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00am, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Renton, WA, followed by a Reception at the Benton Residence to honor Richard and share the great memories we have of him.

On September 11, 1951, Richard Benton was born in Van Nuys, CA, to Helen Norma Emma-Benton and William Gray Benton. He married Naomi Lee Mosqueda-Benton in 1986 at their Renton Home. Between their homes in Renton, WA and Issaquah, WA, Richard and Naomi raised 4 children, and what seemed like many others that always hung out around the house.

Richard's work ethic was incredible. In his early years, he started work on a paper route at the age of 9. He continued showing his excellent work ethic while exploring different ventures throughout his life, including working at Taco Time while in the 8th grade, working for the family catering business on and off between other job opportunities, and at a popular restaurant called Jacuranda while finishing high school. After High School, Richard took the opportunity to explore the world, and with his experience and excellence in the restaurant industry, he landed in Italy where he helped grow a business to 9 stores, which led Richard to implement his management skills while managing approximately 30 employees and supplying products to 34 stores. Later, Richard moved to Washington where he explored other ventures including working for a meat factory, and starting a successful trucking business. After selling his trucking business, he moved his parents to Washington, and became involved in the new family business, Iris Window Coverings. After his parents retired from the business, Richard took the helm along with his family. Together, they were able to create a very successful business, and assemble a wonderful team of people to grow and share in that success.

Richard's work ethic and experience did not end when the work day was done. He was a staple in the community, devoting himself to helping others, donating to local causes, and doing his part to support the environment. Whether it was donating his time to building fish ponds with the fishing club, handing out fishing poles and teaching today's youth how to fish at the local fishing derbies, or sponsoring wholesome events that bring so many great people together, he was a giver of genuine kindness. You could see this devotion in his love for his Family and Friends. Always willing to give you a piece of knowledge or advice, help you find the right words in certain situations, give you a helping hand when you needed it, and always gave his time when it was most needed. The time we got is something we all will forever be thankful for, and will miss the most.

Those Left behind to cherish his memory are his Mother – Helen Benton; Wife – Naomi Benton of Issaquah, WA; Daughter - Stephanie Robinson; Son – Wes Robinson and Danielle of Athol, ID; Daughter – Brenna Shoultz of North Bend, WA; Son – Cody Benton of Issaquah, WA; Brother – Ron Benton and Patti of Kent, WA. Richard's Grandchildren include; Matthew Sharp, and Ethan Robinson.

Richard will be remembered in our hearts, and missed by many. I am, as I am sure most of you are, very happy to have known him.
