Obituary

Robert Ray Hallenbeck of Snohomish, Washington, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on December 15, 1955, in Anacortes, Washington, to Theodore “Ted” Wayne Hallenbeck and Jessie Marion Thompson, Robert graduated from Anacortes High School. He began his career in the logging industry, working across Alaska and Washington State, and eventually owned a successful logging company. In 1996, he joined the Washington State Division of Occupational Safety & Health. Following the events of 9/11, Robert traveled to Ground Zero in December 2001 to assist with clean-up efforts. From 2003 until 2025, he served as a safety consultant for Vigilant.

Hardworking and devoted to his family, Robert enjoyed being outdoors, raising livestock, and growing his own food. He was also passionate about his small business ventures and vintage cars. He was a hunter, a timberman, a safety guru, a farmer, a world traveler, and—most importantly to him—a husband and a father.

Robert is survived by Robin Lynn Turnbull, his loving wife of 16 years, and their blended family. He is remembered with love by their children: Jesse Dean Hallenbeck (Madolyn), Kati Jo Hallenbeck-Tilley (Dirk), Melissa Rose Meng (Graham), Lacie Marie Johnson (Eric), and Jesse Thomas Turnbull; as well as their grandchildren: James Leto and Clark Tiberius Tilley, Hannah Rosemary and Owen Thomas Meng, and Olivia Marie and Carter Robert Johnson.

Robert will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
