William Alan McCormick, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, after a brief illness. He was 59 years old. Bill was a long-time resident of Kent, WA and fell in love with the area; especially its famous weather. It suited him, and he chose to stay after living many years in the American Southwest in places such as Phoenix, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, and Aurora, CO.

Born in Satellite Beach, FL, on August 12, 1965, Bill was the first of four children to parents Hugh and Patricia McCormick. Growing up, he became an Eagle Scout and, in high school, he was on the swim team at Gateway High School in Aurora, CO. After high school, Bill received an Associate's Degree in computer programming and was a lifelong computer programmer. He worked for a number of companies including Danzas/DHL, Microsoft, and Sales Force, and was particularly adept at "putting out fires".

Bill's passions were reading and sports. He especially loved science fiction/fantasy, and had a particular fondness for Star Trek. He was extremely gifted at remembering statistics and was the creator and proprietor of Big Soggy Sports, a football picks website that pre-dated the modern fantasy football and picks sites. Bill also had an unbelievable sense of humor. He was in the top 1% and it served him well through his entire illness. As he suffered, he kept everyone else in stitches and was kind and giving to the very end.

Bill is survived by his father, Hugh McCormick; sisters Kathleen Walsh and Patricia George; niece Anna Walker, nephew Chad George; great-niece Kay Walker, and great-nephews Phillip Walker and Holdyn Walker. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia McCormick and sister Siobhan McCormick.

Inurnment will take place in Aurora, CO in the spring of 2024 at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to your local Lions Club.
